A Glimpse of the Church History
This is a synopsis of the church history. The Oakville Missionary Baptist Church was founded in 1871 and organized in 1872 by the late Reverend Rubin Reed, assisted by the late Morris Henderson, Rev Denis Morgan, and Reverend Alfort Cohen. Reverend Cohn furnished the name for the Church. According to Deeds of Record the Church name was Oakville Color Church, the property was donated by the LeMaster Family to always be used for a Church or School. It was later named the Oakville Missionary Baptist Church according to church records, but never recorded in the deeds of records.
Most of the church history was recorded from the 1st administration in 1872 to the 17th administration 1923, not much is known between the elapsed years 1924 to 1938.
